So Requiem for a Dream goes all-in on showing the gritty side of addiction, which is cool, but ngl I was kinda bored the whole time. Props to Darren Aronofsky for making this, it was visually beautiful and showed addiction pretty well but MAN the movie was so fucking boring for me. I'm sure we can attribute this as me being a lazy bastard, or being a 14-year-old, but stillllll.

It hits you with the hard truth about how it wrecks lives and relationships, and Ellen Burstyn kills it as a mom caught up in the whole addiction shitshow but the story's structure and pace just dragged me down. Yeah, it's deep thematically, but it got kinda monotonous. I saw where it was going, and that predictability took away some of the punch. The visuals and sounds were on point buuut they couldn't save the day with the sluggish pace.

I still gotta give credit where it's due. Requiem for a Dream slaps you right in your fucking face with the harsh reality of addiction. Props for tackling such a tough topic head-on, even if the way it played out left me a bit mehhhh.

I'd go with a solid 3/5 for this movie. It's got guts for digging into addiction, but the slow parts make it less of a wild ride than I hoped. Worth a watch, but maybe with a side of caffeine to keep you awake. I really don't have a lot to say about this film, as I spent most of it doing other things because I wasn't into it at all.
